• Kircher v. Putnam Funds Trust, I spotted the issue, built the argument, and helped secure a unanimous Supreme Court victory.¹

• United States ex rel. Garbe v. Kmart Corp., I led the prescription-drug pricing case from start to finish, culminating in a $59 million settlement.²

• Senne v. Kansas City Royals Baseball Corp., the long-running minimum wage litigation on behalf of minor league baseball players, in which I secured certification of three classes of players and briefed a fourth that was certified after I left my law firm, laying the groundwork for a later $185 million settlement.³

• Gaines v. Ciox Health, LLC, I defeated an attempt to compel arbitration based on online terms and conditions.⁴

I also served as amicus counsel for U.S. Senator Charles Grassley in Universal Health Services, Inc. v. United States ex rel. Escobar,⁵ the unanimous Supreme Court decision recognizing implied-false-certification liability under the False Claims Act and defining the Act’s materiality standard.

I also represented a coalition of amici including the National League of Cities in a series of Missouri Supreme Court cases concerning municipal taxation of telecommunications companies.⁶

But some of the cases that mattered most to me never generated headlines at all.

What connects them is less the subject matter than the work itself: figuring out what actually happened, deciding what mattered, testing the obvious theory against less obvious ones, and continuing until the case made sense.
